2022: 20th Anniversary Diary of a Wombat – Special Ed Book with coloured coin

he Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Children’s Book Council of Australia in a new series that celebrates books, reading and storytelling.

The 2022 release is a tribute to Jackie French and Bruce Whatley’s award winning Diary of a Wombat, first published 20 years ago, and is the second coin in the series.

The book follows the life of a wombat named Mothball whose day comprises sleeping, eating, digging and more sleeping. The wily wombat even manages to train its human neighbours to feed it carrots and oats.

With a limited mintage and colourful design, this eye-catching coin will appeal to children, parents and Australian wildlife lovers.
